Top Choices: Blanco & Still Strength Blanco

What is Blanco Tequila?

Blanco tequila, also known as silver, platinum, or white tequila. It is clear and can be aged in a barrel for up to 60 days. It is typically bottled shortly after distillation, giving it a pure agave flavor. This is the most authentic expression of what that brand should taste like. Blanco tequila is ideal for cocktails and an excellent choice for those who appreciate the pure essence of agave.

When you take a sip of Tequila Ocho Plata (Blanco), you'll immediately notice its vibrant and refreshing taste. The initial notes of citrus and tropical fruits are followed by a subtle hint of pepper, creating a well-balanced flavor profile that is both complex and approachable. The smooth finish leaves a lingering sweetness on the palate, making it a truly enjoyable tequila to savor.

LALO Tequila

LALO tequila is undoubtedly a hot new addition to the market, boasting a bold yet smooth taste: great bold agave and a peppery taste in each sip. LALO also makes a Still Strength, but I prefer the regular Blanco for this brand. This is also a very reasonably priced bottle and is always a top choice recommendation to friends.

Lost Lore

Lost Lore Blanco Tequila offers a vibrant and refreshing tasting experience that captures the essence of the agave plant. On the nose, it presents bright aromas of citrus and fresh herbs, complemented by a hint of peppery spice. The palate is smooth and crisp, with flavors of zesty lime, green apple, and a subtle earthiness that reflects its high-quality, hand-harvested agave. The finish is clean and invigorating, leaving a lingering warmth that invites another sip. Perfect for sipping neat or as the star ingredient in a crafted cocktail, Lost Lore Blanco Tequila embodies the spirit of traditional Mexican craftsmanship. This is absolutely one of my FAVORITES.

Still Strength Blanco

Still Strength Tequila is bottled at the same alcohol level at which it leaves the still, without being diluted with water during the bottling process. This is around 55% alcohol by volume or 110 proof. This reflects the purest, most concentrated form oftequilaa, with more intense flavors and aromas. You will also see bottles referred to as High Proof Tequila, which means they are bottled at a higher proof than the typical 80 proof. Anything above 80 proof can be considered high proof. Ultimately, high proof has been diluted. For the most authentic taste of what a distiller wants theirtequilaa to represent, go for the Still Strength. The highest proof a tequila can legally be and still be labeledtequilaa is 110 proof. This regulation is established by the Mexican NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana) and the CRT (Consejo Regulador del Tequila). Tequila can be made above 110 proof, but ca not be calledtequilaa.

Fortaleza Still Strength

(92 Proof)

https://tequilafortaleza.com

This is my favorite tequila that I have tried. I started with Extra Añejo and bled into Reposado and then blancos. Soon, I began to appreciate Still Strength Blancos. The finish on the Fortaleza Still Strength hits all the right flavors and is smooth on the palate. I always get ahead of myself with friends, having them try this as they are just getting into tequila. I soon found out I might have jumped the gun, having tasted this as a starter. It is strong, as most Still Strengths are, but Foraleza has the magic when they produced this Still Strength. I highly recommend this one. If you can find it, buy it!

Volans Still Strength

(106 Proof)

https://volanstequila.com

Volans Still Strength runs a hard second to Fortaleza Still Strength. Both are great. The Volans also has a smooth, silky finish. This bottle is great and willl be easier to find than Fortalez and also less expensive. Solid winner! Volans Still Strength Blanco is like that friend who always brings the fun to the party—refreshing, vibrant, and just a little cheeky. It's perfect for sipping neat, mixing into cocktails.

Lost Lore Still Strength

(110 Proof)

https://www.lostloretequila.com

Lost Lore, as many brands have a distinct taste that you know you're drinking their product. This also spills over in the Lost Lore Still Strength. The Lost Lore Still Strength Blanco, a spirit that struts into the room like it owns the place, but with a charming grin that says, "Relax, I'm here to have a good time!" This blanco Tequila boasts a vibrant taste profile that dances on your palate like a mariachi band at a wedding, starting with a zesty burst of fresh citrus—think lemons and limes just threw a party with some cheeky grapefruits. As you sip, you'll find a smooth agave sweetness that's like a warm hug from an old friend, but it doesn't stop there; it also has a playful hint of pepper that sneaks up on you like a mischievous piñata. The finish? Oh, it's clean and crisp, leaving you feeling refreshed and ready for the next round or four!

Cazcanes #10 Still Strength (108 Proof)

https://cazcanes.com

Cazcanes Blanco comes in three varieties, so be aware of the number on the bottle. The regular Blanco # 7 is 80 proof, the Blanco #9 is 100 proof, and the Blanco #10 is 108 proof. All bottles are great, and I highly recommend any of the three. I have all three, and depending on my mood, it dictates what I might pick. However, we know it's usually #10 because I prefer a nice Still Strength. The #10 is the sophisticated intellectual of the group. With its herbal undertones and a hint of minerality, it's like having a deep conversation with a wise old sage. You take a sip and think, "Wow, I really should've listened to my elders more." Just don't be surprised if it starts quoting poetry halfway through!

G4 Still Strength

(108 Proof)

https://g4tequilas.com

The G4 family all offers great tequilas, if you are a Still Strength sipper. This is a solid choice and also less expensive than some of the other brands. On the nose, you might catch a whiff of freshly sliced jalapeños trying to impress the sweet notes of vanilla and caramel. When you take a sip, it's as if a piñata filled with citrus and spice just burst open in your mouth. The finish? Smooth enough to make you question if you really just downed a high-proof tequila or if you've been magically transported to a sun-soaked beach. Just remember, this isn't your average margarita mixer—consider it thtequila's's bold, adventurous cousin who shows up ready to party!
